We had a great break. After month of hard work on the conference, the team needed a bit time off. But we are back and working in full force on the conference again.
Tickets are selling fast right and it seems as we are going to be a very international bunch of people at the conference weekend. Especially Londoners seem to dig what we are cooking up, but we also sold tickets to South Africa, Canada, Denmark, USA, Hungary and a few other countries. That’s very exciting. If you haven’t grabbed your ticket yet, go grab it now! The Early Bird tickets are available till next Tuesday and only 60 are left. After that the price for the ticket will go up to 99 Euros.
We are still talking to all kind of interesting people to be involved in CoCities. As already announced on Twitter, we are very happy that Dannie Jost will be a speaker at the conference. Dannie is science advisor and senior research fellow at the World Trade Institute (WTI), she also works for the NCCR Trade Regulation and the law faculty at the University of Bern. She works in policy and regulation issues where science, technology and trade are involved in close collaboration with trade lawyers and other experts in regulatory affairs. Over the years she has developed an insatiable curiosity for the developments in digital communication technologies and in particular the issue of knowledge ownership. She is also working a book project that centers around the relationship between humans and technology.
We can now officially announce the Heimathafen Neukölln as our location for the first day! It’s a grand old theater and it will be a gracious space for our session on the 26th. We working closely with the owners to make sure that we fullfil you basic conference needs (cozy, connected, coffee).
Starting today, the first batch of Early Bird tickets for Cognitive Cities Conference is available in the ticket shop. The tickets are required for Day 1, the conference day of Cognitive Cities, that features a spectacular line-up of speakers. (Day 2, the decentralized activities, are free for all to attend.)
Please keep in mind that we organize CoCities as a non-profit event, and by buying your tickets early you also support the event. Early Bird tickets allow you cheaper entry and help us plan the financials. Regular tickets will be available later for EUR 99.
A limited number of Early Bird tickets are available now for EUR 79 (including sales fee).
We’re psyched to announce that Ben Hammersley, Editor-at-Large Wired UK, will be our moderator of the first day. You may also know Ben as the Head of Digital at Six Creative, Director at CampusPartyUSA or as the founder of JPDGP. We think, that it is really important to have somebody as versed and eloquent as Ben to guide everybody through the first day so he was our first choice for the task.
Our fist confirmed speaker is Adam Greenfield. He’s the author of Speedbird and the founder and managing director of Urbanscale. You might also have read his book “Everyware: The dawning age of ubiquitous computing”. We’re very excited to have him on board.
Ton Zijlstra is a name you’ve probably heard in various context. That’s because Ton is doing all kinds of interesting things. His engagement for OpenGov is well documented, but he is also one of the leading minds behind the FabLab movement in the Netherlands.
Georgina Voss of Tinker London will talk about smart houses. At Tinker, she’s the project lead for the Homesense Project, which take a user-led design approach to making our households smarter. She researches and teaches about the social and cultural facets of technology with Tinker London and Sussex University.
While the first day of the conference is going to be the core of the event, a full on firehose of inspiration, Day 2 is dedicated to going out and exploring the city. We are lining up a number of exhibitions and other activities for Day 2 of Cognitive Cities, so keep an eye on the schedule in the upcoming weeks.
The first activity we’re proud to announce is by the Graffiti Research Lab Germany: Mirae and Jesse agreed to participate with a fantastic project we will introduce in more detail soon. We’ve been fans of their work for a long time and it’s a dream come true for us have them as on board.
